I am Emma from The House Outside. There’s a bit more information about me in the ‘About’ section of this website. There is an option at the bottom of the form to opt-in for a chat on the phone, I’d be glad to talk prior to the 12th if you would like.

I hope you have had some rest, made some memories and been able to look after yourself over the festive period. Whatever your experience has been, I believe that choosing to have a pause and some reflective time at the start of the year is really positive and I am honoured that you’ve chosen to do that with me at The House Outside.

I will be sending out full details in advance of the 12th: kit list, meeting points and an outline of the day. In the meantime, I would be very grateful if you’d complete the form below. The Sea

During the day there will be a couple of opportunities to have contact with the sea. This will be anything from just wetting the hands, feet or face - through to a little 'dip' for those who wish (a splash in the shallows - weather depending). Everyone is invited to participate in whatever way is right for them. If you have any health issues that could be affected by cold water exposure, either opt for the minimal contact option or speak to your doctor in advance. If you'd like to chat with me, please tick the box at the bottom of this form and I'll give you a call. We're not planning on swimming, but in order to keep everyone safe on the shoreline, it would help me to know if you are able to swim or not and your confidence by the sea - please use the box below to give me some information about your swimming and sea confidence (e.g. 'I can swim a bit but have never been in the sea', 'I can't swim at all and am nervous about the sea', 'I am a confident sea swimmer').

Sound bath

We will be joined by Louise, from Healing Vibes (see link to Louise's website below) for a relaxing sound bath. Louise has over fifteen years' experience and also teaches at the Harry Edwards healing college. A group sound bath is a generally safe and very relaxing activity. If any of the following apply to you, then please check this box and I will be in touch to explore how we can ensure the session is safe for you: Neurological condition, shunt, brain implant, heart condition, metallic or other implant in the body, recent surgery or injury, tumour, undergoing cancer treatment, inflammatory skin disorder, screw, artificial joints, inflamed joints or veins, sebaceous cysts, history of psychosis or severe depression, sound induced epilepsy, first trimester of pregnancy.

Agreement

Our time together includes a session in the wood fired Sauna. In the links listed below there is information about the health benefits of sauna as well as some of the risks to be aware of. If you are in any doubt about safe use of the sauna or have any health conditions which may be affected, please speak to your doctor in advance. The House Outside seeks to create opportunities for us to experience the natural world as a means to stimulate our creativity as well as impact positively on our wellbeing - there is significant evidence on the impact of the natural world on our wellbeing (see links below). If we are lucky, we might encounter some of the creatures that live on the shoreline. Sussex Wildlife Trust has a wonderful website detailing the marine species in Sussex (see link below). The RNLI also details information about some of the marine encounters we would hope to avoid (these encounters are very unlikely - see link below). If you have questions or any worries at all, I would be very happy to have a chat on the phone before we meet on the 12th.
