Wolf Moon Welcome
“We all want quiet, we all need beauty, we all want space” - Octavia Hill
Not long now…
It's not long now until we meet for an afternoon and evening of sea, sauna and sound - setting intentions under the first full moon of 2025 - the Wolf Moon. Through time spent on the beach we will find connection with the natural world, with ourselves and each other - we will explore what has brought us to where we are now and reflect on what we would like for the coming year.
The event takes place both indoors and outdoors, so below is a suggested kit list to make sure we are comfortable and safe. The forecast is a relatively sunny and dry day but it will be cold and crisp and potentially breezy - If we're all trussed up warm and dry we can enjoy the elements together, come rain or shine. For most of the afternoon the tide will be out, so we can explore the beautiful shoreline rock pools .
If we are hit by a surprise blizzard then we can reduce our time on the beach - but I know from your intake forms that time spent outdoors is something that is important to all of us.
Kit list
Wear comfortable, warm clothes, ideally easy to take on and off (for sauna changing purposes) - extra layers that can go over the top if it gets cold or if your clothes accidentally get wet
Warm coat / waterproof top layers, hat, scarf and gloves - it'll likely be windy so maybe a hood or a scarf to protect neck and ears
Shoes to wear on the beach - ideally sturdy and waterproof
Swimwear for the sauna - whatever you're comfortable in
A towel to dry off after the sauna and sea - or a dry robe / changing robe if you prefer
Slippers will be provided, but if you have a special pair you'd like to bring then please do
blankets and yoga mats are provided for the sound bath - but if you'd like to bring a special blanket or your own yoga mat then please do
Plan for the day
We’ll be meeting at Sand Bay at 13:00- which is on the corner of Thorn Road and Brunswick Road - behind the Premier Inn on Worthing seafront. There are buses along the seafront and permit parking in the streets around.
We’ll have a moment together there to settle, get to know each other a bit before wrapping up, leaving our bags there and heading to the beach. The first part of the afternoon will be all about what has brought us to where we are now, reflecting on the past and what has shaped us. We’ll explore the shoreline through guided activities - and catch up as a group with hot drinks and sweet treats (including GF and vegan treats). Then we’ll head back to base.
The early evening will then be about considering our future, what do we want more of and how do we intend to proceed in the coming year. There will be time, space and materials to reflect individually and informally with one another and to create a symbol of our intentions for the year ahead. During this time everyone will have a slot to pop across the road in small groups to Worthing’s original horse-box sauna on the beach - relaxing our bodies through heat and cold. Cooling off is either a walk out to sit in the shallows of low tide, showering each other with the watering cans or standing out in the January air! We will then gather back together at base for a relaxing sound bath, led by lovely Lou from Healing Vibes.
Following our sound bath we will meet around the table together and eat a healthy and filling feast crafted with care using ingredients from local producers, growers, and farms. See below for an overview of the menu.
Lastly, we will wrap up warm again and head back over to the beach, strike up a fire and have a closing circle together - setting our intentions under the Wolf Moon (if the clouds allow). The Wolf Moon will be at its fullest on Monday 13th but astronomers are in agreement that the ‘full moon phase’ lasts from the night before until the night after - so we’ll have two more nights of Wolf Moon and we’ll consider how we might use this moon-phase to continue our reflections and intention setting.
If you have any questions or anything you’d like to discuss before we meet on Sunday - please email and I’ll give you a call.
See you soon
Emma
Food & Drink
There will be teas, coffee and soft drinks available throughout the day and evening but it'll be important that we all drink lots of water during and after the sauna and sound bath, so bringing your own water bottle might be a good idea (there’ll be a range of milks for the hot drinks).
There will be sweet treats on the beach as well as dinner back at base in the evening - so you don't need to bring any snacks, but if there’s something you like to have then please go ahead and bring some.
